AMETEK LAND TO SHOWCASE LATEST THERMAL IMAGING SOLUTION AT GLASSMAN SOUTH AMERICA 2017

SHEFFIELD, UK, JANUARY 2017-- AMETEK Land, leading non-contact temperature measurement specialist, will showcase the benefits of its Near Infrared Borescope (NIR-B) Glass at Glassman South America 2017, March 29 to 30, 2017, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at booth A07.

The NIR-B Glass is a new thermal imaging Near Infrared Borescope designed specifically for use in glass-melt tanks with an optional auto-retract version for additional instrument protection.

Also at the conference, Mark Bennett*, Glass Sector Manager at AMETEK Land, will present on the subject of 'Continuous thermal imaging and how it enhances the glass melt process'. His presentation will cover why temperature measurement at critical locations in the production process is essential for full understanding and efficient control of glass manufacture and processing.

AMETEK Land will exhibit in partnership with its Argentinian distributor Sensotec, and together will showcase how the NIR-B Glass provides continuous real-time temperature data, combined with a crystal clear thermal video image, allowing a single solution to replace the traditional approaches of visual cameras and periodic hand-held pyrometry.

'Glassman South America is one of the major events attended by international glass experts and glass container manufacturers, so it is the perfect exhibition to showcase our innovative NIR-B Glass. Officially launched to the glass industry at the end of 2016, the NIR-B is designed to help glass producers optimize product quality and performance from the burners,' says Mark Bennett, Glass Sector Manager for AMETEK Land.

The borescope has the ability to detect cracks or collapses as it can clearly 'see' cold spots from air leaks escaping through the structural refractory. With over 324,000 available temperature measurement points in the field of view, the NIR-B Glass solution also can be used to monitor the drift in crown roof thermocouples.

NIR-B Glass delivers 24/7 data to a plant, providing an operator with access to real-time, continuous data, along with an ability to store and trend this data for future analysis. This capability can save significant costs through the reduction of fuel usage, whilst maintaining the best possible performance from the furnace/melt tank.

Glassman South America, held in Buenos Aires, is one of South America's leading glass exhibitions. It is attended by industry experts and glass container manufacturers along with businesses that use glass containers. The exhibition's objective is to demonstrate the latest in glass industry innovations and technologies, including energy efficiency, quality control, packaging, logistics and decorative possibilities.
