(Alliance News) - Almawave Spa announced Tuesday that, together with its subsidiaries Almaviva Digitaltec and Digital Hub, it has signed the "OncologIA" program contract with the Apulia Region.

It is, the company explained in a note, an industrial research and experimental development project, co-financed by the Apulia Region through the European Regional Development Fund, which applies innovative IT technologies in the medical oncology field.

OncologIA represents an advanced diagnosis system based on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Digital Twin technologies, deliverable through a Cloud platform, capable of serving territorial oncology networks and supporting medical staff in identifying a personalized therapy for the patient, predicting possible complications of the patient and the best follow up strategy according to the available territorial services.

The project, which also involves the Polytechnic University of Bari, the University of Salento and the Bari IRCCS "Giovanni Paolo II" as the experimenting institution of the research initiative, aims to create an evolved, digital model of the real patient, offering healthcare personnel a complete picture of the parameters that characterize the patients.

"Through the acquisition of data from heterogeneous sources-such as medical records, electronic health records, and specific sensors and devices-OncologIA will be able to offer physicians an integrated view of the individual person undergoing treatment, for the entire life cycle of his or her therapeutic journey. Healthcare professionals will thus be able to combine skills, experience, intuition and empathy with the enormous potential represented by an AI predictive system in the prognostic field, through the availability of Big Data and machine learning, while continuing to play their fundamental role of guidance, supervision and monitoring," says Valeria Sandei, Ad of Almawave.

Almawave's stock is flat at EUR4.73 per share.
