At SNCF, CGT, Unsa, Sud and CFDT have called for a "powerful strike" on Wednesday. The strike is due to run from Wednesday evening until Friday morning.Erik Meyer, federal secretary of Sud Rail, said on BFM TV that after this day of mobilization on Thursday, the union would meet to decide whether or not to call for further strikes. At the RATP, the CGT, FO, Unsa and CFE-CGC unions issued a joint statement saying they would do "everything in their power to oppose" the government's reform, which would, among other things, put an end, for the RATP's employees, to the right to work.In particular, the government plans to end the special pension scheme in force at the Paris transport authority for new recruits.

REFINERIES

The CGT Pétrole has called for a 24-hour strike on January 19, followed by 48-hour strikes on January 26 and 72-hour strikes on February 6, at which point the strike may be extended. "We're perfectly aware that today, one day won't be enough to make the government back down," explained Eric Sellini, CGT coordinator at TotalEnergies, on BFM TV. "If the conflict were to drag on, there would inevitably be consequences for the refining industry as a whole, with a potential shutdown of facilities in the coming weeks", he warned.
