Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

This week is taking place once again the World Economy Forum in Davos, Switzerland. 3,000 leading heads of the world economy and policy will meet, to debate about the obviously changing global environment after Brexit and the election of Trump as next president of the United States of America.

Barely one event like Davos stands under the sign of globalization and economic liberalization. Special interest beside the analysis of current risks will cause the speech of the Chinese state president Xi Jinping, who participates for the first time.

One of the major key points this year will be the climate change - and how the business elite can earn profits with that. At no previous meeting in the small Swiss town the participants give climate change such kind of important attention. Solely 15 events are dealing with the subject of climate change. And it´s not only the case, that the top managers will paint oneself green, furthermore they will find ways to earn billions in times of climate change despite decarbonization of world economy and the related process of change.

One should think for example on changing risks for insurance companies regarding extreme weather phenomenon, the change of the motor industry into electromobility, as well as the challenge of the energy industry to earn enough money with renewable energies.

Therefor the Paris climate agreement made an important basis, and the business leader hast implement these terms of reference into their upcoming plans and business development proposals. The corresponding commentaries of the participants are much anticipated, because they show the line of approach of the next months and years.

Last week the prices of European Emission Allowances showed a strong volatility. The quotes of EUAs did move between 4.95 and 5.71 Euro per ton of greenhouse gas CO2 or equivalent. But last week closes remarkably on the same level than the week before.
