Topsoe, ABB and Fluor have formed an alliance to design a standardized construction concept for Topsoe's future solid oxide electrolysis (SOEC) cell plants. The aim is to reduce costs, improve safety and ensure efficient project execution.

Demand for green hydrogen is growing, and production could reach 38 million tonnes a year by 2030, according to the International Energy Agency. Topsoe is currently building its first SOEC plant in Denmark, which will be operational by the end of 2024, and is planning a second plant in Virginia for 2028.

The heads of the three companies stressed the importance of working together to accelerate the energy transition and achieve decarbonization targets.
