Export sales of U.S. soybeans in the current marketing year rose 18% from the previous week, but still fell on the low end of analyst forecasts.

In the Department of Agriculture's latest export sales report, soybean sales for the 2023/24 marketing year are reported at 329,400 metric tons for the week ended May 23. Sales for 2024/25 totaled 6,900 tons.

The combined total fell on the low end of expectations from analysts surveyed by The Wall Street Journal this week. Analysts had forecast total sales to land anywhere from 250,000 tons to 700,000 tons.

Sales of wheat and corn fell within analyst forecasts, with wheat totaling 320,800 tons across both marketing years and corn totaling 997,900 tons. The USDA reported that wheat sales actually were reduced for 2023/24, by 60,900 tons.

CBOT grains are higher premarket, with corn, soybeans and wheat all up 1% early.
