June 20 (Reuters) - The U.S. aims to resume its inspections of avocados and mangos in the top-producing Mexican state of Michoacan "as swiftly as possible," a U.S. Department of Agriculture spokesperson said on Thursday.

The inspections were paused on June 17 due to a security incident involving USDA staff.

They will resume "once the security situation is reviewed and protocols and safeguards are in place for (USDA) personnel," the spokesperson said. (Reporting by Leah Douglas; Editing by Leslie Adler)
