TOKYO--The Bank of Japan will maintain accommodative monetary conditions for now, Gov. Kazuo Ueda reiterated Tuesday, while not ruling out the possibility of further policy changes.

"We will consider reducing a degree of monetary easing" if underlying inflation rises further, Ueda said in a parliamentary committee meeting.

The BOJ governor said he didn't have any preset ideas about possible future rate increases.

The central bank decided in March to end negative interest rates and other easing measures. The bank is scheduled to hold its next policy-setting meeting on April 25-26.
