The company is based in Stockholm, Sweden and has subsidiaries in Finland and Sweden. The company creates value by owning and developing real estate and forest assets, as well as managing securities and other financial instruments. The company was founded in 1950 by Holger Hjelm.

Founded in 1932 by Carl Gustaf Bankirfirman Langenskiöld as investment bank Bankirfirman Langenskiöld, the firm subsequently sold their direct holdings and changed their name to Investment AB D.
