  • Many visitors attended the event to find out about the apprenticeships on offer
  • Zumtobel Group emphasises personality and individual strengths
  • Profound vocational training for technical professions

Dornbirn - On Friday, 20 January 2017, the Zumtobel Group apprentice workshop opened its doors for the 'Long Night of Apprenticeships'. Young people and their parents attended the event in Dornbirn to find out about the wide range of apprenticeships within the international lighting group. Visitors were able to talk to trainers and apprentices who offered an insight into their training. The young professionals of the Zumtobel Group were able to demonstrate their skills directly at the workbenches and machines and accompanied the visitors through the apprentice workshop.

'Since education and training plays a vital role in the Zumtobel Group, we are very eager to recruit young talents for an apprenticeship in our company. It is important to us that young people also show their personality besides talent and enthusiasm for technical professions. This can be seen in our vocational training as well as in our current apprentice campaign 'COME AS YOU ARE'. During their vocational training at the Zumtobel Group, apprentices should get to know their personal strengths and also be able to build on them. We support them in developing their technical skills and, at the same time, accompany them in their personal development,' says Felix Stecher, Head of Vocational Training at the Zumtobel Group.

Awakening enthusiasm for technical professions
Currently, the Zumtobel Group employs 83 apprentices. The apprentices are trained in the fields electrical engineering, electronics, plastics technology, metal technology, production technology, mechatronics and IT technology. In the in-house workshop, they first get an in-depth basic training after which they have the opportunity to acquire experience in various departments in order to help them identify their strengths and interests.

Many practical tasks, projects and workshops give the apprentices a great deal of freedom as well as the possibility to get involved actively. Apprenticeships focus on profound training, which prepares the young professionals for the challenges of a technical profession. With events such as the 'Long Night of Apprenticeships' as well as Open Days for 8th grade students and higher, the Zumtobel Group wants to offer an insight into its vocational training and awaken enthusiasm amongst talented young people for an apprenticeship in the lighting group.

Technical training equally interesting for girls
For the third time in a row, the Amazone association, which aims to motivate girls to choose a technical training, was represented at the 'Long Night of Apprenticeships'. Amazone dedicates its work to promoting equal opportunities for young men and women in accessing a wide range of apprenticeships.
