Wheaton Precious Metals Corp. shares rose in early trading on Tuesday after the company said it has entered into a precious metal purchase agreement with Sabina Gold & Silver Corp.

At 9:45 a.m. ET, shares were up 2% at C$52.88.

The Vancouver-based precious metals streaming company said the purchase agreement is in respect to the Goose Project in Nunavut.

"The Goose Project in the Back River Gold District in Nunavut provides Wheaton with an exceptional opportunity to expand our portfolio into one of Canada's strongest and fastest-growing mining jurisdictions," Wheaton President and Chief Executive Randy Smallwood said.
