UnitedHealthcare has promoted Kurt Heumann to the rank of chief executive for Medicare & Retirement in Missouri and Kansas. He will assume the role immediately, and will oversee the portfolio of Medicare plans that are tied to more than 300,000 Medicare beneficiaries - 250,000 in Missouri and 65,000 in Kansas. Heumann previously served as chief financial officer in the central region for UnitedHealthcare Employer and Individual.

In that role, it was his responsibility to oversee business planning and reporting processes in a 15-state region. He was also part of a team that helped expand UnitedHealthcare's presence on the state Health Insurance Marketplaces. Heumann is replacing Mike Jones, who recently accepted a position as the president of the UnitedHealthcare Community Plan in Maryland.

In his new role, he will oversee the plan, which serves Medicaid beneficiaries in Maryland.
