Ubar Hotels and Resorts SAOG announced unaudited consolidated and parent company earnings results for the quarter ended March 31, 2016. For the quarter, on parent company basis, the company announced revenue of OMR 535,300 compared to OMR 612,628 for the same period a year ago. Operating profit was OMR 128,749 compared to OMR 178,232 for the same period a year ago. Profit before taxation was OMR 126,853 compared to OMR 178,290 for the same period a year ago. Profit and total comprehensive income for the period was OMR 115,217 compared to OMR 160,495 for the same period a year ago. Earnings per share was OMR 0.002 compared to OMR 0.003 for the same period a year ago.
For the quarter, on consolidated basis, the company announced revenue of OMR 1,488,948 compared to OMR 1,617,079 for the same period a year ago. Operating profit was OMR 455,247 compared to OMR 539,818 for the same period a year ago. Profit before taxation was OMR 382,869 compared to OMR 458,001 for the same period a year ago. Profit and total comprehensive income for the period was OMR 344,111 compared to OMR 410,245 for the same period a year ago. Earnings per share was OMR 0.007 compared to OMR 0.008 for the same period a year ago.
Ubar Hotels and Resorts SAOG, formerly Interior Hotels Company SAOG, is an Oman-based company engaged in the tourism industry within the Sultanate of Oman. The principal activity of the Company is the ownership and operation of the Golden Tulip Nizwa Hotel. The Company operates through four business segments: the Rooms segment includes suites and standard rooms; the Food segment Includes the main restaurant, room services, banquettes, lobby lounge and shisha point; the Beverage segment Includes the main bar, pool bar, room services, banquettes, lobby lounge, shisha point and tobacco selling, and the Others segment includes boutique, guest telephone service, guest transport service, guest laundry service and other miscellaneous services. As of December 31, 2011, the Companyâs major shareholders included Mohammed Al Barwani Investment LLC and ROP Pension Fund, among others. In August 2012, the Company acquired Park Inn Hotel, a four-star hotel property in Muscat, Oman.
