Tyler Technologies, Inc. announced that the state of Oregon has begun implementing Tyler's Odyssey File & Serve application, an e-filing solution that will make it easy for courts and the legal community to file, serve and distribute documents electronically statewide. Odyssey File & Serve is an integrated component of Tyler's Odyssey court management system, which Oregon selected in 2010 for statewide implementation supporting all state trial courts. Odyssey case management has already been successfully implemented in Yamhill, Crook, Jefferson and Linn counties.

The rollout of Odyssey to Oregon's remaining circuit courts will continue through 2016. Using Odyssey as its e-filing solution further supports the Oregon eCourt program's goal of using technology to shift from a paper-based system to digital solutions. E-filing helps streamline court processes, reduces costs associated with handling and storing paper files, and assists the state in its efforts to transform how the court system serves Oregonians.

Odyssey File & Serve simplifies the workload for overworked court staff by reducing both document processing time and courthouse traffic, so users can focus on higher priority tasks. Electronically filed documents also require less staff time to manage, and e-filing eliminates the need to physically handle and store paper-based case files, which eases security concerns. For law offices, Odyssey File & Serve streamlines document processing, saving law offices time and money by eliminating the need to physically transport documents to courthouses and other locations as part of the justice process.

Oregon and Tyler are in the process of implementing Odyssey File & Serve in Yamhill County, which will serve as the pilot before Tyler's e-filing solution begins statewide rollout. Electronic filings in Oregon are expected to eventually reach more than 500,000 transactions per year.
