TV2U International Limited announced the roll out of its IVAN-X content delivery platform to power the direct-to-consumer streaming service delivered by Africa Enterprise Media Group (AEMG). This is part of the commercial licensing agreement announced on 19th July to launch TV2U into the Africa region. A soft launch has taken place ahead of the incumbent technology provider, and existing infrastructure behind AEMG's streaming service, being superseded by IVAN-X. The soft launch was also used to demonstrate the advanced feature set available through TV2U's technology ahead of the full commercial roll out in September. AEMG's direct-to-consumer service will be rebranded TV2Africa and will offer a greatly enhanced feature set to subscribers. TV2Africa's soft launch coincided with an ongoing sales and marketing campaign to target regional and local content owners to the platform. The full commercial launch is due to take place in September. At this point, AEMG's current 10,000 active subscribers will be migrated to the new platform. TV2Africa will then also be available to all consumers in the four target regions for this service, as outlined in the previous market update. The soft launch involved a technical field trial where the new TV2Africa streaming platform was demonstrated in a live environment with a subset of existing subscribers to AEMG's service. This was run in parallel with the incumbent technology provider's platform, which will continue to operate until the full commercial launch of TV2Africa next month. These technical trials were completed successfully with TV2U's technology delivering continuous OTT service without buffering or delay, even over challenging network environments. The prelaunch trials were also a chance to demonstrate the advanced capabilities of IVAN-X for driving the growth of AEMG's service going forward, partly by providing a much richer feature set to its subscribers.
