Japan Bank for International Cooperation announced that it has signed an untied loan agreement for offering a credit line of up to USD 100 million (EUR 78.1 million) to Türkiye Kalkinma Bankasi Anonim Sirketi to be disbursed for renewable energy projects. The loan is being cofinanced by Japan's Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and will be intended for projects such as small-scale run-of-river hydraulic power and geothermal power generation as well as other energy efficiency projects. The credit line is expected to contribute to promoting the introduction of renewable energy and the reduction of greenhouse gasses emissions (GHG) in Turkey as the Turkish government has ratified the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol targeting the reduction of GHG emissions by 11%.
