Jake Livermore was delighted to play his part against Everton.

The young midfielder started only his third Premier League match and produced a fine performance in the key central area as we beat the Toffees 2-0 at the Lane on Wednesday night

Jake partnered Luka Modric with Scott Parker and Sandro on the injury list and he responded with a man of the match display.

So strong in the tackle, Jake kept it simple on the ball and more than played his part as we moved up to joint-second in the Premier League.

Harry Redknapp said afterwards that Academy graduate Jake 'could play for anyone' and assistant boss Kevin Bond said he was 'the best player on the pitch'.

"Look at central midfield and we've Scott Parker, for me, England's main man and then Luka Modric, one of the best players in the Premier League, in fact in the world, plus Sandro," said Jake.

"It's difficult for me, but it's what happens when you are at a top-four club.

"As long as I'm in and around it and when called upon, I can come in and do a job, that's what I'm here to do."

For Jake, it was all about the three points. "The most important thing is for the team to win," he added. "It was our game in hand, we've been looking forward to it and it was tough. It was a great three points in the end."
