Sep 11, 2013

  • Series 4000 engines with enhanced electrical efficiency of up to 43.3%
  • Suitable for use with bio-gas, sewage gas and landfill gas

Friedrichshafen/Hanover, September 11, 2013. Under its MTU Onsite Energy brand, Tognum will be presenting its advanced Series 4000 bio-gas engine at Agritechnica (Hall 22, Stand E20) in Hanover from 10 to 16 November. The unit´s electrical efficiency rating has been increased from the previous maximum of 42.5% to 43.3%. An additional variant is also available which facilitates operation at a higher cooled mixture temperature of 53°C with only slightly reduced efficiency. This variant is primarily intended for use in countries with higher outside temperatures and higher air humidity. The MTU Onsite Energy stand will feature a Type GB 776 B5 genset with an electrical power output of 776kW.

Systems powered by Series 4000 bio-gas engines are available in 8, 12, 16 and 20-cylinder configurations with an electrical power output range from 776kW to 1.948kW. First deliveries of systems with the enhanced-efficiency bio-gas engines are scheduled for March 2014. The units are earmarked for operation in agricultural applications, in sewage treatment facilities and at landfill sites.

At the exhibition, Tognum will also be showcasing its MTU-brand Series 1000, 1100, 1300, 1500 and 1600 diesel engines for agricultural and forestry machines (Hall 1, Stand F217).
