MTU Onsite Energy at Agritechnica with enhanced-efficiency biogas engine

Friedrichshafen/Hanover, November 10, 2013. From 10 to 16 November, in Hall 22 (Stand 20) at the Agritechnica exhibition in Hanover, Tognum will be showcasing its advanced Series 4000 biogas engine under its MTU Onsite Energy brand. The engine´s electrical efficiency rating has been increased from its previous peak of 42.5% to a new maximum of 43.3%. An additional variant is also available which facilitates operation at a higher cooled mixture temperature of 53°C with only a slight drop in efficiency. This variant is primarily intended for operation in countries with higher outside temperatures and high humidity. The MTU Onsite Energy stand will feature a Type GB 776 B5 genset with an electrical power output of 776 kW.

Systems powered by Series 4000 biogas engines are available in 8, 12, 16 and 20-cylinder configurations with an electrical power output range from 776 kW to 1,948 kW. The units are earmarked for operation in agricultural applications, sewage treatment facilities and landfill sites.
