  • Tognum subsidiary receives certificate for long membership
  • Big advantage for engineers through networking

Friedrichshafen, November 27, 2013. Tognum subsidiary MTU Friedrichshafen has been supporting the VDI (VDI - The Association of German Engineers) for 60 years now. Dr Ulrich Dohle, Chairman of the Board of Management at Tognum AG, accepted the certificate in recognition of 60 years' membership and thanked Dr Christoph Teetz, Chairman of the VDI Regional Association, Lake Constance. "I have been a member of the VDI myself now for over 30 years and I appreciate the networking within the association very much," said Dohle. He believes that it is a big advantage for members to get to know other ideas and possibilities outside of MTU at committees and meetings. According to Dohle, VDI makes the exchange of information among engineers possible and thus promotes technical progress. In 2012, the VDI Regional Association, Lake Constance honored ZF Friedrichshafen AG and Schuler Pressen GmbH from Weingarten in recognition of 60 years' membership.

In the Lake Constance region, MTU Friedrichshafen is one of the oldest members of the VDI. In 1953, Maybach Motorenbau, the company that was to become MTU Friedrichshafen, joined the VDI as a supporting company. "We can assume that the company joined on the initiative of company founder Karl Maybach," said Dr Teetz. By doing so, Maybach expressed his high opinion for his workforce. VDI Regional Association, Lake Constance, has over 3,500 members many of whom are engineers at MTU Friedrichshafen.
