The Swiss Helvetia Fund Inc. announced that Mr. Jay S. Calhoun has resigned from the Board of Directors. The Board has approved the appointment of Mr. Richard Dayan to fill Mr. Calhoun's position as a non-interested Class I Director of the Fund, and member of the Fund's Audit Committee and Governance and Nominating Committee, to serve until the Fund's 2019 Annual Meeting of Stockholders or until his successor is
duly elected and qualified. Mr. Dayan is the President and owner of Cactus Trading, an importer and exporter of clothing and accessories. He serves as a board member of Putnam High Income Securities Fund, and previously served on the board of directors of Emergent Capital Inc. Previously, Mr. Dayan served for 10 years as Chief Financial Officer of Biltmore Textiles, and was an auditor for an independent registered public accounting firm.
The Swiss Helvetia Fund, Inc. (the Fund) is a non-diversified, closed-end investment company. The Fund's investment objective is to seek long-term growth of capital through investment in equity and equity-linked securities of Swiss companies. The Fund may also acquire and hold equity and equity-linked securities of non-Swiss companies in limited instances. The Fund primarily invests in securities of Swiss issuers. The Fund also invests in various industries, such as banks, biotechnology, building materials, chemicals, computers, diversified financial services, electric, electronic components and equipment, food, healthcare products, industrials, insurance, machinery-diversified, metal fabricate/hardware, packaging and containers, pharmaceuticals, private equity, retail, semiconductors, preferred stock, short-term investment, and transportation.
