MtronPTI, leader in precision frequency control and custom RF/microwave filters, today announced the LF9454 and LF9455 GPS Band Reject Filters. Bruce Mackie, MtronPTI Senior Applications Engineer, says, "Battlefield success starts with controlling the electromagnetic spectrum; but electronic countermeasures - jammers - can drown out sensitive GPS receivers on the same aircraft. The LF9454 and LF9455 block jammer signals around the two primary GPS bands so satellite lock is maintained. Altitude certified, smaller and higher power than alternatives, these GPS Band Reject filters keep countermeasure UAVs on target, troops safe and the enemy quiet."

Blocking unwanted traffic and guaranteeing friendly communication are often the keys to success in both hostile and humanitarian missions. Spectrum control is ensured by sophisticated jammers in fighter aircraft and increasingly long-loitering UAVs.

Bruce continues, "Despite advances in inertial navigation, UAVs still need a good GPS position; but GPS signals at 1.2 and 1.5 GHz are in the middle of handheld radio and cell phone bands - typical jamming targets. Tiny (two to three cubic inches) and high power (+52 dBm /160 Watts), these GPS filters provide a critical edge for our electronic forces."

The LF9454 L1 band and LF9455 L2 band notch filters are shipping now with a 500 - 2600 MHz passband, insertion loss less than 0.3 dB and GPS band rejection typically 18 - 20 dB. The filters are guaranteed to operate at full CW power to an altitude of 10,000 feet and temperatures from -20 to +75 °C.
