LawDeb has further strengthened its pensions professional trustee offering by naming a new Head of Corporate Sole Trustee.

Scott Pinder assumes the role at a time when UK pension schemes are increasingly appointing a corporate sole trustee (CST) to oversee governance, particularly in the face of growing regulatory demands.

Law Debenture currently acts as CST for around 60 clients - including the largest appointment of its kind.

Pinder joined Law Debenture as a Director earlier this year. He previously spent 15 years at Willis Towers Watson, where he served as a Director, an Actuary and a governance thought leader.

Supported by Pegasus, the firm's Pensions Executive team, Law Debenture's CST approach involves close engagement and requires at least two Directors to sign off decisions - bringing in further voices depending on materiality and complexity.

This reflects the company's commitment to diversity of thought, which is increasingly recognised in the professional trustee arena as essential to ensuring effective governance.

Pinder said: "No important decision should rely on the opinions of a single individual. The industry is gradually coming round to our long-held view that trusteeship is a 'team sport'."

As well as providing independent expertise to businesses requiring governance and transaction services, the Law Debenture Corporation plc (FTSE 250) runs an award-winning UK investment trust.
