HOSPITALITY groups were amongst the loudest in calling for urgent energy bills support and said yesterday that the six-month package would provide a winter stay of execution.
But pub bosses warned much more support could be required next year to tackle what British Beer and Pub Association chief Emma McClarkin said was a "cost of doing business" crisis. Night Time Industries Association CEO Michael Kill also warned suppliers would be "free to impose additional mark-ups such as network charges and operating costs, which are uncapped".
City Pub Group boss Clive Watson called for a temporary VAT cut to reduce pressure as a result of growing food, labour and construction costs.
