Taiheiyo Cement Supports Kawasaki City's Participation in the World Economic Forum's

Initiative, "Transitioning Industrial Clusters Towards Net Zero"

Taiheiyo Cement Corporation (Head Office: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; President: Masafumi Fushihara) has decided to endorse the participation of Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture in the Transitioning Industrial Clusters Towards Net Zero Initiative, a global endeavor led by the World Economic Forum. The city is home to the Kawasaki Plant of DC Co., Ltd. (President: Yoshiyuki Uenoyama), a company of our group. Our endorsement is part of our group's commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by working with local governments and other industries under our group's Carbon Neutral Strategy 2050.

Kawasaki City, home to the Kawasaki Plant of DC Co., Ltd., one of our group companies, has recently joined the Transitioning Industrial Clusters Towards Net Zero Initiative*, which is led by the World Economic Forum, as the Kawasaki Carbon Neutral Industrial Complex. It is the first signatory cluster from Japan (see the figure below, figure from https://www.city.kawasaki.jp/590/page/0000147219.html).

The global initiative is launched and managed by the World Economic Forum** and is aimed at achieving the global goal of net zero (carbon neutrality) through collaboration among key industrial clusters. To this end, the initiative promotes the international sharing of knowledge and expertise among such clusters. Industrial clusters in many countries*** have already joined, exchanging information via meetings and disseminating information in tandem.

Under the Carbon Neutral Strategy 2050, our group has been involved in discussions towards the decarbonization of the coastal area of Kawasaki as a member of the council organized by Kawasaki city. Given that the city's initiative of the Kawasaki Carbon Neutral Industrial Complex is aligned with our group's carbon neutrality strategy, we have expressed our endorsement of Kawasaki's participation in the global initiative.

Going forward, we will work with Kawasaki City and other supporting companies to capitalize on the global initiative in order to communicate information to the world and to cooperate with other industrial clusters. We will thus redouble our commitment to helping carbon neutralization in the city's costal area, and by extension, the Greater Tokyo Area.
