Seoul, Jul 8 (EFE).- Workers affiliated with the main union of technology giant Samsung Electronics began Monday a three-day strike, the largest in the company's history, due to the lack of agreement on the improvement of working conditions It wasn't immediately clear what the monitoring would be and its impact on production.

The National Samsung Electronics Union has 28,000 members, approximately 22 percent of the workforce.

The objective of the strike is to negatively affect production, although so far the union has only confirmed that about 5,000 of its members will take part in the strike.

During these three days, the union plans to demonstrate at the gates of the Hwaseong plant, one of the company's most important plants, as well as in front of Samsung's headquarters in the Seocho district, in Seoul.

The Union, which already called a strike day on Jun. 7 - the first in the company's history - that did not affect the production of the semiconductor giant, is asking for one more holiday in the work calendar for all employees of the company and salary improvements.

The union said the employers' association has rejected its demands after resuming negotiations at the end of last month and has threatened to call another strike - this time for five days - this month if there is no progress in the dialogue this week. EFE
