Charitable Contribution
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (KS005930, KS005935, SMSN, SMSD) ('SEC') today announced that its Board of Directors has authorized the following contribution and management plans for the Social Contribution Fund for 2018.
Contribution to Samsung Dream Scholarship Foundation - SEC will contribute KRW 1.12 billion to the scholarship foundation to provide more education opportunities to high school students from low-income families who have a strong desire to learn but lack the financial means.
Management plans for the Social Contribution Fund for 2018 - The Social Contribution Fund consists of voluntary contributions by employees and matching funds by SEC. SEC plans to contribute KRW 12.21 billion in 2018 to match the funds raised by employees in 2017.
- SEC's contributions will be spent on sponsoring domestic and overseas voluntary programs as well as supporting local social contribution activities.
Other matters to consider when making investment decision - The Board of Directors approved this action at the meeting held on January 31, 2018.
