The Beijing fair could be called the start of the upcoming round of international fur fair/auction season, but compared with fairs in Hong Kong and Milan, the Beijing fair is more focused on the Chinese domestic market.

Exhibitors have reportedly tried to do business using December fur price levels as a benchmark. Customers have not been as active this year as compared with previous years due to a relatively warm winter and because of the uncertainty that remains with regard to price levels for skins.

The market's direction will not able to be interpreted until results from the major February and March auctions have been seen.
