RSC Energia at Korolev's Readings

According to the well-established tradition S.P. Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia takes part in the proceedings of the 41stAcademic Readings in Cosmonautics, which opened January 24 at Bauman Moscow State Technical University (MSTU), Moscow.

The Readings are dedicated to the memory of Academician Sergei Korolev and our country's other outstanding scientists - pioneers of space exploration.

The organizing committee is headed by the general designer of RSC Energia, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yevgeni Mikrin. The co-chairman of the organizing committee is the general director of the State Corporation Roscosmos Igor Komarov, and deputy chairmen are: academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Victor Sadovnichi; academician of RAS Igor Fedorov; rector of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University, academician of RAS Anatoli Alexandrov and academic secretary - doctor of engineering science Vera Mayorova.

Yevgeniy Mikrin gave a speech at the plenary meeting marking the 110th anniversary of academician S.P. Korolev and spoke about the current status and the outlook for the development of our country's manned spaceflight. Among the top priorities of the Russian spaceflight, he listed exploration of the Moon and Mars.

'The legacy of Korolev's creative work lives on in the achievements of our country's manned spaceflight, in the traditions of the school of designers of rocket and space technology that he created, who, drawing upon his ideas, develop new advanced space projects. Implementation of these projects advances the great cause of the man who made spaceflight a reality', - said Ye. Mikrin.

In the course of the plenary session the daughter of the outstanding designer Nataliya Sergeevna Koroleva presented a new autobiographical book about life and creative work of her father titled 'One should live with zest!'.

The Readings will be held from January 24 to January 27. The program of the forum includes many plenary and splinter sessions, discussions and round tables held between representatives of science, education, authorities and business.

The key subjects are scientific legacy of space exploration pioneers and schools of design in rocket and space industry, fundamental problems of space science and the status of its specific areas, studies in history of space science and technology, humanitarian aspects of space flight, etc.

There are plans to conduct more than 20 workshops within the framework of the Readings. More than a thousand specialists have already registered to participate in the forum, and among them there are, as always, scientists, engineers and designers of RSC Energia.

RSC Energia is the leader in the rocket and space industry, and the prime contractor for manned space systems. The Corporation conducts work on the development of unmanned space and rocket systems (launch vehicles and orbital transfer vehicles), and high-technology systems for various non-space applications.
