January 23, 2017, Moscow - Rostelecom PJSC (MOEX: RTKM, RTKMP; OTCQX: ROSYY), Russia's national telecommunications operator, today announces that as part of the Company's broader drive to transform Rostelecom into a truly digital business, it has completed a major project, designed to optimize a number of administrative functions relating to complying with local reporting requirements.

Specifically, the project has led to significant steps being taken to automate back-office functions associated with reporting and the electronic transfer of certified information. The result is that thousands of processes have been optimized around how data is compiled, processed and transmitted for external reporting requirements. Consequently, the number of duplicating functions has been eliminated; operating costs have been optimized and the need for subcontractors has reduced as the Company develops its own internal resources.

As a result of this specific initiative, incremental cost savings have been realised, amounting to approximately 100 million rubles since the start of the project. Also the Company has developed internal expertise that is going to be monetized by offering business process outsourcing to other market participants (Business Process Outsourcing, BPO).

Alex Lohmaev, the Head of Statistical Reporting, commented:

'The objective of this exercise was not just to streamline business processes, but to ensure that our reporting infrastructure reflects the transformation of our business into a fully digital operation. The very advanced reporting infrastructure we are developing, which includes a new cloud service, will also bring additional benefits, including the ability to offer more diverse services to customers, including the ability to help them realise savings through our new cloud solution.'
