BCA Supports the Execution of Wayang World Puppet Carnival

Update: September 2, 2013

Jakarta, September 1, 2013 - As a form of BCA commitment to continue its support to the development of arts and culture in Indonesia, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) is one of the companies that support the implementation of Wayang World Puppet Carnival 2013.

President Director of BCA Jahja Setiaatmadja said, "Puppet is an Indonesian cultural heritage that should be preserved. Wayang World Puppet Carnival is an excellent event to promote Indonesian culture while boosting the love for Indonesian culture. Therefore, we support this event."

Wayang World Puppet Carnival 2013 is being held from September 1 - 7, 2013 at Pewayangan Kautaman Building, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII). This event is an international festival that is being held for the purpose of raising dignity and values of Indonesian puppet arts and cultural heritage, which was organized by Indonesian Puppeteers Association (PEPADI), in collaboration with National Secretariat of Indonesian Puppets (SENA WANGI), ASEAN Puppetry Association (APA) and Union Internationale de la Marionnette (UNIMA) Indonesia, World Puppet Carnival (with Rod Petrovic as the Artistic Director) and Bravo Fest Agency in Prague.

Puppet is a doll show with Indonesian original drama, which had grown and developed since thousands of years ago. On November 7, 2003, puppet had been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage Masterpiece List.

BCA has been consistently supporting the preservation and development of puppets. BCA had held various initiatives under the name of "BCA for Indonesian Puppets", including holding "Quo Vadis Wayang Indonesia" discussions with the media, packing a serial educational show titled World of Wayang (WOW) and Photography Competition, also holding Edukasi & Apresiasi Wawasan Budaya Bangsa (WAYANG) roadshow program.

"BCA is consistent in preserving Indonesian cultural heritage, one of which is by supporting the execution of Wayang World Puppet Carnival 2013. We hope that there will be more events that promote Indonesian culture," said Jahja.
