The Father of the Year event is a high profile fundraiser sponsored by the American Diabetes Association (ADA). Nationally, it has raised more than $25 million benefiting the ADA in support of its mission to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

"On behalf of all employees at Pepco Holdings, we're excited for Ken to receive this award," said Joseph M. Rigby, chairman, president and CEO of Pepco Holdings, Inc. "Through his leadership, Ken has received numerous acknowledgments that reflect his commitment to the community and business excellence, but Ken's greatest asset is his devotion to his children, family, and close friends. It comes as no surprise that the Father's Day Council is recognizing such a deserving individual this evening as 2012 Father of the Year."

Joining Parker in receiving this year's award is Gonzalo Pacanins, managing director at Gentec LLC., and Stephen Hayes, president and CEO at the Corporate Council on Africa.

"It is an honor to be recognized alongside these other deserving individuals for this humbling award," Parker said. "I am so proud of my children and thankful for the support of my wife. I want to keep being the best father I can every day."

Since 1999, the National Father's Day Council has partnered with the ADA to host "Father of the Year" awards events. Each year they recognize men from across the nation for the outstanding strength, commitment and love they exhibit as fathers. These men have not only attained success in their chosen field or endeavor but carved out time to teach and mature their children while also becoming good citizens and proud members of the community.
