RED BANK, N.J. (AP) _ OceanFirst Financial Corp. (OCFC) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter profit of $22.7 million.

The Red Bank, New Jersey-based company said it had net income of 37 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 48 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 44 cents per share.

The holding company for OceanFirst Bank posted revenue of $97.9 million in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $90 million, which did not meet Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $91.2 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $110.1 million, or $1.78 per share. Revenue was reported as $357.3 million.
