Nokia announced on Thursday that it plans to organize an e-sport competition operated on its Wi-Fi wireless network equipment rather than on a fiber connection.

The Finnish equipment manufacturer says it has teamed up with SCUF and Oversight Esports, two companies in the sector, to create the Nokia Apex Legends tournament, which will be broadcast tomorrow on Twitch, Kick, X and YouTube.

The event will bring together 20 teams of three players, ten professionals and ten amateurs, who will compete on Apex Legends using a Wi-Fi connection, rather than the wired Ethernet network usually used for this type of competition.

This is the first e-gaming tournament to use a Wi-Fi connection rather than Ethernet.
