MANILA, June 11 (Reuters) - PLDT, the Philippines' largest telecommunications group, and the final bidder for a stake in its data centre business have agreed on a valuation of more than $1 billion for the unit, the company's chairman said on Tuesday.

PLDT is looking at a firm agreement in July to sell up to 49% of its data centre business, PLDT Chairman Manuel Pangilinan told reporters.

Last month, Pangilinan had told Reuters the company was in talks with Japan's Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) over the sale of up to 49% of its data centre business.

Founded in 1928, PLDT is the Philippines' largest telecommunication conglomerate with businesses including fixed line and wireless telephony, its website showed.

The company owns and operates 11 data centres through subsidiary ePLDT. (Reporting by Neil Jerome Morales; Editing by John Mair)
