(Alliance News) - Next Geosolutions Europe Spa on Tuesday announced the awarding of a tender for the mapping of marine habitats called by Invitalia on behalf of the Istituto Superiore per la Protezione e la Ricerca Ambientale, with a total value of about EUR42.5 million.

The initiative is part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan for 2021-2026, in which EUR400 million has been allocated aimed at restoring and protecting Italy's seabed and marine habitats.

Work is estimated to be completed by June 30, 2026.

Giovanni Ranieri, CEO of NextGeo commented, "We are very pleased to have been awarded this highly significant contract that allows us to collaborate with important institutional bodies and to put our know-how and expertise at the service of a project that includes a concrete commitment to environmental sustainability and safeguard as envisaged by the PNRR."

"A program of work that embraces both the more technical and ethical aspects that characterize our work. Mapping and characterizing marine habitats, working in close collaboration with ISPRA and Invitalia, allows us to provide detailed information on the biological, geological and physical characteristics of the different areas and represents an unmissable opportunity to raise awareness, through research, for the protection and enhancement of the seabed of our Peninsula and beyond."
