EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) _ MTS Systems Corp. (MTSC) on Tuesday reported a fiscal fourth-quarter loss of $280.7 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based company said it had a loss of $14.56. Earnings, adjusted for asset impairment costs and non-recurring costs, were 95 cents per share.

The maker of mechanical testing systems posted revenue of $215.1 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported a loss of $272.1 million, or $14.16 per share, swinging to a loss in the period. Revenue was reported as $828.6 million.

MTS shares have increased 21% since the beginning of the year. The stock has risen 23% in the last 12 months.
