MTR Welcomes the Year of the Pig with Limited Edition Commemorative Tickets

As the Year of the Dog is about to end, we stand ready to welcome the pig. To celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Pig, limited edition MTR "Year of the Pig" commemorative tickets will be available for sale from 20 January 2019. Customers can enjoy unlimited domestic journeys around town on the MTR network1 using the special edition tickets on the first day of the Chinese New Year (5 February 2019).

Priced at HK$90, the ticket set comprises two commemorative tickets with a classy ticket holder and eight "Cute Origami Pig" red packets. The tickets combine different portrayals of pigs by Chinese and western artists, Wong Ka and Kate McLelland, respectively. The Chinese painter has brought us a gentle and kind piggy whereas the one from the western artist is intelligent and cute. This auspicious ticket set conveys the same message as the old Chinese saying, "when a pig comes through your door, ample blessings will follow." As an extra offer, a "Glazed Ceramic Piggy Bank" with two colour choices will also go on sale for HK$60 each from the same day (20 January 2019).

"Chinese New Year is celebrated widely in Hong Kong and is also a time for family reunions and to catch up with relatives and friends. To facilitate the festive celebrations, MTR will provide passengers with overnight train services on Chinese New Year's Eve (4 February 2019). Through this adorable commemorative ticket set and the "Cute Origami Pig" red packets that come with the ticket set, we wish our passengers a prosperous and fruitful Year of the Pig." said Ms Jeny Yeung, Commercial Director of MTR Corporation.

The commemorative ticket set and piggy banks will be on sale from 20 January 2019 at the start of MTR train service at all MTR and Light Rail Customer Service Centres2 (unpaid area) while stocks last. Each customer may buy up to two sets per purchase for each item. Each commemorative ticket allows customers to enjoy unlimited domestic journeys on the MTR network1 on 5 February 2019. The tickets will be returned to customers as souvenirs after use.
