Within the framework of the concluded contract, Mostotrest is launching Stage 1 implementation of the project 'Construction and Reconstruction of the M-5 «Ural» Highway (Moscow - Chelyabinsk via Ryazan, Penza, Samara and Ufa). Construction of the Oktyabrski Village Bypass Including a Bridge Across the Moscow River, Km 28 - Km 37, Moscow Region.'

In accordance with the contract, Mostotrest will build a new four-lane bridge across the Moscow River, a four-lane flyover and a traffic interchange with change-over points on the km 34 - km 35 km section of the M-5 «Ural» Highway. The infrastructure will become part of the Oktyabrski Village Bypass, a new segment of the highway. The project customer is the Central Russia Federal Road Administration of the Federal Road Agency («Tsentravtomagistral»). The contract value is RUB3.084 billion (including VAT).

Built in 1955, the old two-lane bridge across the Moscow River at km 35 of the existing M-5 highway is one of the most critical bottlenecks on the M-5, provoking big traffic jams. Scheduled for completion in December 2021, Stage 1 construction of the Oktyabrski Bypass will relieve the section and support the existing traffic.

The new bridge will be built in close proximity to the existing bridge. Following completion of the project, the old and new bridges will accommodate, respectively, Moscow's out- and inbound traffic.

Stage 1 implementation will launch with construction of the Oktyabrski and Ostrovtsy bypass road in the Moscow region. Traffic light-regulated transit traffic through the villages currently provokes traffic jams and afflicts local environment. The new route with the parameters of a Category 1B highway with 8 lanes and a 12.5 m dividing strip will bypass the settlements, eliminating numerous traffic bottlenecks in Moscow and its suburbs. Specifically, the project will relieve the existing road through the villages of Oktyabrski and Ostrovtsy, and improve the environmental and transport situation in the settlements. Following completion of all construction stages, the new road will provide high-speed access to Moscow, Lyubertsy, Ramensky and Zhukovsky, and significantly increase transit traffic speed.
