Montrose Environmental Group Inc. announced on Jan. 4 it acquired Orlando-based MSE Group LLC. As a result, MSE Group expects to grow its local staff of 60 employees by 10% in the next 12 months, Montrose Environmental spokesman Doug Donsky told Orlando Business Journal. That could mean the addition of high-wage jobs at MSE, an engineering and environmental consultant. For example, the average Orlando salary for civil and environmental engineers ranges between $80,170-$89,840, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. That's higher than the average Orlando annual wage of $46,140. As part of the deal, MSE Group's leadership team, including President Miyoung Squire, will join Montrose and the company will become part of Montrose's Remediation and Reuse Segment. Squire added in a prepared statement that her company will benefit from the greater access to capital and national exposure that Montrose provides. Last year was an uneven one for local construction as new residential construction flourished while nonresidential construction fell below 2019 levels. For example, the value of Orlando residential construction starts was up 13% year over year in November, according to Dodge Data and Analytics. Meanwhile, the value of nonresidential construction starts, which includes any type of building that is not single-family or multifamily housing, was down 57%.
