Mobile TeleSystems Public Joint Stock Company (NYSE:MBT) (MTS) is considering the acquisition of ivi.ru Media Ltd. that is valued at $1 billion-$1.2 billion, Kommersant daily and RBC business portal reported citing unnamed sources. As followed by bne IntelliNews, the "Russian Netflix" ivi was preparing for an IPO prior to Russian military invasion of Ukraine, while MTS also had ambitions within the growing Russian video streaming market. Prior to the military invasion of Ukraine, Russian video streaming platforms were picking up speed and saw a jump in subscriptions and spending on paid content amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdowns.
