c2c's Group Station Manager Cassie Sutton has set in motion a recycling revolution at the Essex and East London train operator.

Over the last few months Cassie has been working diligently to roll out a new and comprehensive recycling scheme at all c2c managed stations, as well as London Fenchurch Street.

This new initiative means that all waste and litter collected at c2c stations will be taken away from site and sorted for recycling, reducing the amount of waste that goes to landfill to the absolute minimum and maximising the amount of material which is recycled.

In a typical month approximately 25 tonnes of material collected at c2c stations is recycled.

The recycling scheme was originally introduced at Fenchurch Street station at the end of May 2011. This early trial proved promising and throughout September and October, working in partnership with recycling company Sita, the initiative has been gradually extended to include all 24 c2c managed stations, as well as Fenchurch Street.

Julian Drury Managing Director of c2c said: "c2c Area Manager Cassie Sutton has taken the lead in introducing this new scheme at all c2c managed stations and I am grateful for her tremendous efforts ensuring a successful outcome for this initiative.

"We are determined to play our part in ensuring we take all necessary steps to provide an environmentally friendly service. We have made significant strides over the last year in introducing comprehensive recycling schemes at our stations.
