MANULIFE FINANCIAL CORPORATION 
By Cao Bang- In response to the 2010-2020 national program for new rural development, Manulife Vietnam today granted VND 275 million to the Truong Ha Commune, Ha Quang District, Cao Bang province to purchase computers, photocopiers and projectors for local kindergarten, elementary and high schools. The awarding ceremony was held at the Truong Ha Commune People's Committee andwas attended by Mr. Nguyen Huu Toan - Assistant to National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, Mr. Phung Ngoc Khanh - Deputy Director of Insurance Monitoring and Management Bureau, Ministry of Finance, Mr. Lanh Duc Dung - Chairman of Ha Quang District People's Committee, Mr. Dam Van Truong - Chairman of Truong Ha Commune People's Committee, and Mr. Chung Ba Phuong - CEO of Manulife Vietnam, along with local authorities and Manulife Vietnam's management board.
Truong Ha Commune is a mountainous area located in the northern part of the Ha Quang District, close to the Vietnam-China border. The place is home to three ethnic minority groups of Tay, Nung and Mong. The commune faces many difficulties -- the area has a very low GDP per capita and a high poverty rate of more than 15%. The people living in this commune depend heavily on farming activities; however, this has been a challenge to many due to the hilly terrain of the location.
