Linde announced today that it has begun supplying clean hydrogen and captured carbon dioxide to Celanese, a global specialty chemicals and materials company.

Linde will supply Celanese with carbon dioxide captured from its state-of-the-art carbon monoxide and hydrogen production facility in Clear Lake, Texas.

Celanese will use the captured carbon dioxide and the resulting clean hydrogen, along with other carbon dioxide sources, as feedstock to produce lower-carbon methanol in the joint venture with Mitsui & Co. called Fairway Methanol.

As a reminder, Linde already supplies carbon monoxide, oxygen and nitrogen to Celanese from its Clear Lake facility and the US Gulf Coast pipeline network.
The additional offer is therefore an extension of the existing long-term agreement.
