Frontier Resources Limited announced a planned field crew mobilisation to the Tolukuma tenement to commence a mapping and sampling program. Fieldwork will begin at Kunda North where previous trench results included 1.2m at 1,041.2 g/t Au and is accessible via walking tracks from the mine site. The field crew will then move on to further sampling to find extensions of the Kimono and Saki gold vein systems. Frontier has completed its review of the historical Soju prospect located 1.7km northeast of the Saki vein system and 4km eastnortheast of the Tolukuma mine. During the years between 2002 and 2009, exploration outside of the current Mining Licence ML104 was aimed at keeping the Tolukuma mine operational for the next 10 to 20 years by finding additional ounces for its mill feed. Soju and Kunda North prospects were part of the termed 'Mill Feed Projects' which included the Saki, Kimono, Mt. Sen and SeriSeri gold vein systems that are all now within Frontier's EL2531 tenement. During a period of low gold prices, mining ceased before any expansion of the Mining Lease to allow these projects to be put into production. At total of 1,043.6m, in seven holes (SD7 to 9) were drilled at the Soju prospect between 22 January and 9 March 2000. Targets were a series of northnorth west trending sub vertical veins with cross structures located from the work completed by previous tenement owners Newmont Pty Ltd. in 1989. The most significant results by Newmont included 2m at 5.3 g/t Au, 2.5m at 4.35 g/t Au and 1,750 g/t Au in rock float (refer ASX Announcement 29/5/2019). A possible alteration halo had been considered present at the Rong Vein. The ValabCross vein and a number of other veins have been mapped and sampled. During drilling, six structures were defined which included 0.15m at 25.2 g/t gold intersected in hole SD4 and 0.13m at 6.13 g/t gold in SD5. Base metals were high in SD4 & 5 with the highest values including 1.35% Lead in SD4, 1.45% Copper in SD5 and 9.4% Zinc in SD5. Gold assay results showed 11 values greater than 1 ppm Au with visible gold seen twice with results reported to show potential for rapid expansion of gold resources from a large number of veins defined at surface.
