A record number of books collected by the employees of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. will be donated to libraries in Lower Silesia and the company's Readers' Club. Also, kilograms of feed, but also animal accessories, including blankets and quilts that are so needed in autumn and winter, will go to shelters through foundations that work for homeless animals. KGHM summed up the two-week volunteer campaign conducted at all of the company's divisions across the country.

KGHM employees symbolically and literally shared their good fortune by donating a total of nearly 1,800 books, including works of popular, historical, and scientific literature, but also handbooks or guidebooks, as well as the most popular children's stories and comic books. The volunteer campaign will support the book collection of KGHM's Readers' Club, but will also be shared with the company's partner libraries in Legnica, Polkowice, Gaworzyce, and Wińsk, among other places.

"The company's employees once again proved that nothing is impossible for them. We broke a record from the previous book collection, where more than 1,500 books were donated. We promote reading, but also do not forget about those in need, who can only count on others. We are currently donating gifts to shelters for homeless animals, which are also collected by KGHM employees," said Sylwia Jurgiel, the spokesperson for KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.

Collecting books and supplies for needy animals is already a tradition at the company. Special bins and containers for the gifts were set up at all KGHM divisions. Employees also take on the role of volunteers and are also involved in transporting the "gifts of the heart" to 6 facilities in Lower Silesia. Packages of food, both dry and wet, blankets, quilts, animal cages, and other necessary accessories are transported to the shelters. Employees of the Lubinpex and Zagłębie Lubin companies, which are a part of the KGHM Group, also joined the campaign.

It is worth mentioning that the library of the KGHM Reader's Club already has more than 800 books. The company's employees eagerly read popular publications, but the top 10 list also includes books published by KGHM that were co-authored by the company's staff. Albums about mountains and those with Easter recipes are downloaded very often. Both types of books are available to everyone, not just KGHM employees, and can be downloaded by anyone interested from KGHM's website.

That is not all. The company's book collection will be supplemented later this year with publications featuring employees' original Christmas recipes, which the Polish Copper Family will share with others.

Volunteer campaigns are an important part of KGHM's pro-social activities in the Copper Belt. In total, in 2022, it was possible to carry out fund collections for the needy, social initiatives related to, for example, the promotion of foster parenting, and projects promoting an active lifestyle. In the first six months of 2023 alone, 163 campaigns took place with the participation of 1134 KGHM volunteers. Of these, 35 projects were carried out by KGHM Group companies.
