Jobseekers have been flocking to the first of this year's Virtual Careers Fairs, run by Jobstoday.co.uk - making it the most successful start ever.

More than 3,500 people have visited the online jobs fair since its virtual doors opened on Monday - and the line-up of top companies represented has never been stronger.

The Virtual Careers Fair (www.jobstodaycareerfair.com) will be running six times throughout this year with online attendees able to access a variety of potential employers, share their CVs, gain useful job-seeking insight and 'chat' to other people looking for employment or simply investigating a career change.

Companies represented at this current Virtual Careers Fair cover an ever-increasing variety of sectors including energy, accountancy, education, retail, security and legal.

And the biggest names in business are ready and waiting to offer help, guidance and information to visitors. These include Santander, IKEA, Arla Foods, DFS and GCHQ.

Joe Slavin, Managing Director, Recruitment at Johnston Press (which owns the site), said: "The job market is really active at the moment - unemployment has fallen to a five-year low and there is definitely a renewed sense of optimism among both job seekers and employers.

"Our Jobstoday website has seen a huge surge in activity throughout January - and that's being reflected by the level of interest in the first of this year's Virtual Careers Fairs. And what's even better is that candidates can seek out jobs, chat to prospective employers and apply for specific roles without having to leave their own home."

The Virtual Careers Fair runs until 7th February at www.jobstodaycareerfair.com

www.Jobstoday.co.uk and www.jobstodaycareerfair.com are part of Johnston Press, one of the UK's fastest growing media businesses. Its 200+ regional newspaper titles and associated websites and apps reach over 24 million people every month.
