The logistics arm of Chinese e-commerce platform JD.com is introducing express delivery within four hours in Hong Kong, competing with Alibaba or rather with subsidiary Cainiao, which is soon to be spun off.

It involves door-to-door delivery in Hong Kong and Macau, including evening delivery up to 10 p.m. Customers in Macau will receive packages as early as the next morning after placing an order.

Competition among China's e-commerce giants is picking up because of the annual Singles' Day event. During this bargain-fest, millions of items are discounted.

Cainiao had already promised fast deliveries in Hong Kong in July, including a 60 yuan ($8.3) fee for any order that takes more than 48 hours to arrive.
