Luca GaIbusera, a thirty-year-old Italian designer, is the winner of #Concrete In Design, the international contest promoted by Italcementi and Alessi, open to young professionals interested in experimenting new expressive shapes through new products. In this case the product is i.design EFFIX, a high performance material conceived by Italcementi, and participants were asked to design a table centerpiece for outdoor use.

The winner was chosen among 200 creative designers from 112 countries for a total of 302 proposals that have been uploaded on the desall.com website, a platform promoting  participatory design of new products and fostering digital creative process.

The winning project is entitled "Omaggio all'artigiano" (Homage to the artisan") and, as Luca Galbusera said, "wishes to emphasize the importance of the artisan, understood not only as a person with his or her own activity, but, in particular, as a custodian of his or her own art. A worker who is essentially a full time operator of his or her own discipline".

The mock-up of the project will be displayed on 21 March at the Alessi show room in Milan together with other interesting entries from the contest.

Born in 1984 and educated at the Design Faculty of the Milan Politecnico, Luca Galbusera works in the field of interior design partnering with both businesses and private individuals. In February 2014, he will be hosted by i.lab, Italcementi's Research and Innovation Centre, to attend  a workshop organized by LPWK Design Studio, owned by Laura Polinoro, who has been working with Alessi on organizing design workshops worldwide for years. During the workshop, the project will be examined in detail and perfected so at to obtain a new design piece to be possibly included in Alessi' s future collection.
