Imerys announced on Thursday the creation of a new division dedicated to energy transition, which the minerals producer sees as a 'key relay' for its growth.
The Energy Transition Solutions (SET) division is to include graphite and carbon black production activities, which mainly serve the mobile energy market.
It is also to include Imerys' stake in 'The Quartz Corp' (TQC), a 50%-owned joint venture that supplies the solar panel and semiconductor markets with high-purity quartz.
The business group is also expected to eventually integrate contributions from its lithium projects.
In addition to this new entity, Imerys' organization will be built around two other businesses, the first being performance minerals for the plastics, paint and coatings, filtration, life sciences, ceramics and building products markets.
Added to this structure is that of Solutions for Refractories, Abrasives and Construction (RAC), which serves the foundry, abrasives and construction chemicals sectors in particular.
